In an interview with Vogue, Selena Gomez, popstar, icon, stated: "I can't wait for people to forget about me"
You may know her from her Disney series and movies like: Barney and Friends, A myriad of up-beat Monte Carlo, Wizards of Waverly Place (her hit series which she produced), 13 Reasons why, and of course, being the popular popstar that she is. However, despite her stardom, she has not been immune to struggle. After having recently launched a solo music career, selling over 7 million albums and 22 million singles, the 24-year old abruptly ended two tours, retreated to a private life of solitude, and wrote her first Christian hit single "Nobody" which she performed in a congregation together with Hillsong Young and Free.

If you visit her Instagram page, you can already see that Selena Gomez is truly a hit and it was all thanks to her 110 million Instagram followers and counting (a.k.a. "Selenators") for their unyielding support, which allows her to do what she loves to do every day.
Her fans love her down-to-Earth, "I'm-just-like-you" posts, which range from a picture of her leading worship at a Hillsong concert to comments about a Judah Smith sermon.
Selena isn't just putting on a show for her fans
For Selenators, the things they like most about her - authenticity, humility, and maturity- are the motivation behind her recent retreat from the limelight.
In an interview with Vogue, Selena Gomez revealed that she deleted Instagram on purpose from her phone and intendedly forgot her password because she hated the emotional rollercoaster that the app brings her. The likes, dislikes, and comments, the all-around vibe in general. She said that when she realized that she was addicted to Instagram and it was controlling her life, she distanced herself from it.
The reason behind the song Nobody
Selena's found serenity after she canceled two tours, one in 2014 due to a lupus diagnosis and the other in 2016 because of psychological burnout. She says that tours are "lonely," especially now that her audience of innocent children has morphed into a mosh pit of teens and young adults who drink and smoke.
The song clearly states her love for God, her faith, her belief.
In her young age, Selena felt like she had no wisdom to offer misled youths. After all, she too experienced the typical "young adult" struggles, including cutting ties with her longtime boyfriend Justin Bieber, who recently shared his faith publicly.
Though Selena prefers the comforts of home to the chaotic nightlife or clubbing and bar hopping, she is more than happy to share her faith publicly, proudly asserting that she is a "Christian."
According to Selena, in her interview with Vogue, she bravely remarked, "I ... can't wait for people to forget about me." With the release of her new song, it is clear that Selena hopes fans will redirect their enthusiasm from her to God, the ultimate celebrity.
