"Spider-Man: Homecoming" earned an impressive $70.3 million on its opening this weekend on Chinese box office, with a market share exceeding 75%.

The film was reported to be the much-anticipated Hollywood live-action movie in China. It was given a massive platform of up to 137,000 screenings per day in the country.

According to Variety, the movie's bandwidth score to 80% market share and $20.7 million during the first opening day on Friday, September 8. It was then followed by 77% and $28.3 million on Saturday, September 9. On Sunday, September 10, it has $21.3 million with 75% share as per Ent Group's report. The previews and midnight screenings were reportedly accumulating to $71.8 million.

Sony also added that the movie is the third-best opening of a superhero film in China. About $6 million of the weekend was earned from the 442 IMAX screens, which are reportedly best-ever opening for a Sony film in China.

Considering China's reception to the movie, the increased faith in the Marvel name and growing Chinese box office is not surprising to set the strong opening of "Spider-Man: Homecoming." It can be recalled that the previous movie titled "Amazing Spider-Man 2" earned a total of $94.4 million in China three years ago, so the result of the franchise is already expected this year.

China is considered as a profitable consumer so "Spider-Man: Homecoming" is reportedly gearing up for a home video release next month. The digital version of the movie will be released at the end of the month which will feature bonus scenes and photo galleries.
