After a year-long worldwide search, the new Mulan has been finally found!

Chinese actress Liu Yifei or also known as Crystal Liu, will be playing the lead role in the live-action film adaptation of famous Disney movie "Mulan."

Niki Caro, who helmed the "The Zookeper's Wife" is set to direct the much-awaited live-action adaptation of the famous Disney movie. Chris Bender, Jake Weiner and Jason Reed will be producing the movie.

According to Hollywood Reporter, a team of casting directors made time to visit five continents and saw nearly 1,000 candidates for the lead role, which requires amazing martial arts skills, the ability to speak fluent in English and having the "star quality."

To set the movie same with the cartoon version, the team focused on locating an ethnically Chinese young woman to play the role of Hua Mulan, who, in the film, disguised herself as a man to substitute her father's army conscription during the fifth-century in China.

"In Liu, Disney found the complete package. Nicknamed "Fairy Sister" by the Chinese public for her pure and innocent looks and image, she has been one of the country's most popular actresses of the current generation since breaking out with a series of hit television dramas in the mid-2000s," THR said about Disney choosing Liu Yifei.

The remake of "Mulan" is expected to be released on 2019.
