The Hong Kong Boys' Brigade, Gideon Youth Military Training School, and Society For Truth And Light (STL) initiated the no internet movement for one day across Hong Kong. The campaign to be held on Dec. 3, 2017 is to encourage people in Hong Kong to spend time meditating and with people around them.

The worldwide no Internet movement aims at helping people notice whether or not they are controlled by technology.

The No Internet event may last for three or four hours, a day, or a month. Its purpose is to free up some time for people to gather with their friends or think about their life through meditation.

An investigation carried out among more than 1,800 elementary and secondary school students by the sponsors showed that junior school boys spend at least three hours online per day on average and that students are the least likely to quit Internet connection without partners who join them.

The students who withdraw from the Internet for one night have less time to access to the Internet and sixty percent of them have companions.
