Why Suicide is not the Key

Amidst the heartbreak that the K-pop industry - and its fanbase worldwide - is now facing, there are a lot of things to take note off whenever you feel depressed.

Just recently, one of the most famous artists from South Korea has been found dead and has been ruled as a "suicide" by the police.

While thousands of fans wept for their beloved Jonghyun, there is no denying the fact that the ones who will be gravely affected are the people whom he had left behind.  His closest friends and his family.

In this modern era, suicide has been immensely prevalent not just in rich people, but also to anyone under the sun.

No one is safe when depression attacks you and to add to that, people even blame God when that time comes.

However, there is hope in your hopeless nights, there is a light in that tunnel, and there is someone who will sweep you off your feet when you feel like falling.

As Christians, we should always remember that "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1 (KJV)

That verse does not only apply to us; it applies to everyone!

Depression is something that people always take for granted.  It comes so fast and the last thing that a person will know is that he or she is all messed up.

Depression feels like you were drowning

It will make you feel like you are "treading on thin ice, and you are going under..." Says a line from a song.

Depression will make you feel all kinds of things. It will eat you alive. However, suicide is not the key.

To end your life is to end all the possibilities of it getting better.

People get angry when Christians say that they should "ask God" for answers.

On the other hand, if that person is not yet a "Christian" and have not yet "received" God's love, yes, they will have a hard time talking to God because they cannot understand something that is not presented to them, and that is where the word of God comes into play.

Solution

Suicide doesn't have a cure...yet.  But sharing the gospel is one thing of minimizing the amount of people, rich or poor, famous or not, who are taking their own lives.

I am sure, someone at this very moment, is crying themselves to sleep and wants to end their life.  Someone is planning to end it here. At this very moment.

But suicide is not the answer.  God is the answer, as the song says "Whisper a prayer in the morning, whisper a prayer at noon, whisper a prayer in the evening, to keep your heart in tune."

When everything feels so hard, when you feel so broken, so beaten down, when people says bad things to you, bully you, or if ever you are a fan of Jonghyun who is now thinking of killing yourself, please think twice.

Prayer is not everything, but God moves in mysterious ways and suicide is not always the solution.  There are a billion things in life to be thankful for.  The people who do not like you will only be happy if you do that.

Even if your heart hurts so much, always remember that suicide is not the key. Think of all the people that will be sad if you are gone.

Think of all the things that you could've done.  Think of God who died for you, on the cross just so that you can live.

Suicide is not the key.

John 3:16 (KJV)

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
