Tencent to Digitize Known Silk Road World Heritage Spot

Tencent is currently looking into reinventing how to promote Chinese culture as it is now working on a project to digitize the Mogao Caves, one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites located along the Silk Road.
The tech giant partnered with Dunhuang Research Academy, who is responsible with the caves, and signed the deal on December 29th. The deal would digitize the experience of visiting the caves which spans 1,000 years old.
According to Wang Xudong, director of the Dunhuang Research Academy, "In 2006, we initiated the 'Digital Dunhuang' project, which has digitized 180 caves. This time, the academy will team up with Tencent to continue the digitization work. What's more, Tencent will help us make the digitization cultural resources of the Mogao Grottoes more accessible to the people."
Under the agreement, Tencent would also be using its technology to help the academy to better display the relics with the help of virtual reality and AR channels. A new digital platform would also be created to help people see Dunhuang and still get an immersive experience.
The agreement would also permit Tencent to include the cultural resources from Dunhuang into various entertainment products in various language such as in the 'King of Glory' online game.
Tencent would also be working with the academy to improve visitor experience with the help of facial recognition.
The "Digitial Silk Road" project was also launched to assist in protecting, promoting and revitalizing cultural relics within the Silk Road.
