On October 28, 2018, eleven churches in Shanghai held bazaars to collect funds for sick children as a response to a medical assistance call from a local Christian Foundation.

Shanghai Huizhong Church held a half-day bazaar on its square and raised about 32,000 yuan. All the money would be used to aid poor children with cleft palates and suffering from throat, head, and neck disorders.

According to the Huizhong Church, the Shanghai Agape Foundation (SAF) and the Shanghai Philanthropic Foundation (SPF) in conjunction with the Children's Hospital of Shanghai established the "Love Smile" Poverty Relief Fund in 2017. The two foundations plan to donate 1.5 million yuan per year for three years to help needy children. As of last September, 600,000 yuan from the fund was used for surgery to successfully treat 44 children.
