On August 4, 2019, the Haikoulu Church in Changchun, Jilin, held its 10th anniversary service.
After the choir sang "The Glory of the Holy Temple", Shan Peng, the senior pastor, delivered a sermon with the theme "When I Think of You". Sharing John 21:1-14, the pastor recalled God's grace and presence in the past decade.
In 2009, about 10 people gathered at a sister's house. As the number grew bigger, they started to rent a place for gathering. During the renting periods, the church met different troubles like cotenants not accepting any activities of worship or complaining about overcrowding, a landlord selling the place they rent, or not allowing members to use restrooms, according to Pan Qiuhua, one of the earliest staff.
Now the three-story church building can hold more than 800 people.
After the sermon, the choir, youth fellowship and ministry teams performed a total of 25 programs, which they had been preparing during the past month prior to the anniversary service.
A sister who was engaged in the performance said, "It has been ten years. God has watched over and cared for us for ten years. We dedicate the most beautiful dances to God and hope God's love will remain with us forever. "
