From December 2 to 5, 2019, the "Seminar on the Sinicization of Christianity in Three Provinces and One City in Southwest China" was held in Chongqing.

Hosted by Chongqing Christian Council & Three-Self Patriotic Movement (CC&TSPM) and organized by Sichuan, Yunnan, and Guizhou CC&TSPMs, the conference gathered more than 140 church leaders and officials from all over the country, according to Chongqing CC&TSPM.

Professor Zhang Yi'na of the Central Academy of Socialism and Professor Yan Xiyu of Nanjing Union Theological Seminary were invited to give lectures on the topics of "Sinicization of Christianity" and "Sinicization of Christianity from History of the Chinese Christianity". Eight church clergy including Pastor Yuan Shiguo spoke at the conference on the ideas of Christianity Sinicization.

On the morning of Dec 5, the participants visited several places at Chongqing's Patriotic Education Base including Sediment Cave, Baigongguan, and Jiangbei Evangelical Church.

Through the discussion, it was agreed that the focus of and need for the church's development during these times is the sinicization of Christianity. The Church should consider the reality of each local church and actively promote the development of Christianity's sinicization in the fields of Bible teaching, worship practices, psalms and praise, practices of spirituality, pastoral care, social service etc.
