The official church in China's southernmost Hainan Province has donated about 700,000 yuan for the fight against the novel coronavirus.

After the province gave a first-level public health emergency response in late January, Hainan Christian Council & Three-Self Patriotic Movement (CC&TSPM) required all the local churches to stop services and gatherings and take protective measures.

On Jan. 30, Hainan CC&TSPM urged believers to donate money and supplies in an initiative.

As of Feb. 5, the total fund reached approximately 700,000 yuan, consisting of funds raised by churches, individuals, and business fellowships. A Singaporean Chinese, Ezekiel Tan, secretary general of the Bible Society of Singapore, donated 50,000 yuan and masks worth 50,000 yuan to Hainan.

Hainan CC&TSPM sent the first supplies to churches in Hainan and Hubei and will give 200,000 masks to other places.
