Shanghai Starts Exam Registration for Internet Religious Information Service License

On its official WeChat account, the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Ethnic and Religious Affairs issued a notice on conducting the examination for persons to censor online religious information on June 23.

“To implement the ‘Administrative Measures for Internet Religious Information Services’ and strengthen the management of Internet religious information services in this city”, the tests will be carried out in batches at different times due to COVID-19, adopting the form of “independent study and tested together”.

The notice said the list of key references was once announced in the notice concerning carrying out the Examination for Internet Religious Information Examiners.

"The examination is in the form of a closed-book exam of objective questions with a full score of 100, covering religious policies and regulations and related religious knowledge," the notice explained. 

"Applicants shall be mentors for online religious content selected by legal or unincorporated associations that intend to engage in Internet religious information services, registering through the QR Code for training registration for Internet religious information auditors in Shanghai," the religious organization said.

The notice mentioned that legal persons or unincorporated associations should have at least one auditor, and units that provide Internet religious information dissemination platform services are recommended to appoint more than three reviewers, who should not work part-time in other units engaged in the services.

In addition, it reminded the attendees to abide by the epidemic prevention and control measures and the relevant management regulations of the organizer. Those who violated any of these would be disqualified from the examination as appropriate, it added.
