MIIT: Here’s What's New About China's Fast-evolving Telecom Industry

457 million smartphones were sold in China in 2015. According to country's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology or MIIT, 35 percent of China's population bought new smartphone last year as shown in their annual report for the year 2015.

MIIT revealed that China now has more than 1.3 billion mobile phone users which literally mean that everyone in the Middle Kingdom has a mobile phone.

China has 213 million fixed broadband connections and about 70 percent of those are 8 Mbps or higher according to the annual report.

MIIT added that China has 785 million mobile broadband users and that they gained 289 million new 4G subscribers in year 2015 and that the total 4G users sits at 386 million.

The country used 4.2 billion gigabytes of mobile data last year, which is considered doubled from 2014.
