200 landmarks all over the world including China's Great Wall of China have turned green in celebration of St. Patrick's Day.

Great Wall of China along with the London Eye and the 7 World Trade Center at Ground Zero New York are among the monuments and iconic structures which turned green for the said celebration.

According to the Tourism Ireland it was impossible to put price on the publicity that the country of Ireland receives globally.

CEO of Tourism Ireland Niall Gibbons, said in a report that this worldwide campaign is worth millions in publicity and in advertising as well.

It was the seventh year of the Tourism Ireland in initiating the global greening event. Furthermore, according to the record, there are 190 landmarks across the six continents that were illuminated for the greening initiative.

The said drive lead by Tourism Ireland is aiming to convey Ireland's heritage.

CEO of Tourism Ireland Niall Gibbons said "We are using every opportunity to capitalise on Ireland's heightened profile this week".

Though not visible in the outer space, the Great Wall of China were clearly outlined with green lights as group of Irish and Chinese guests joined together for greening the Great Wall.

The Great Wall has facilitated various Irish occasions throughout the years, including a show by the Chieftains in 1983, when the Irish people band turned into the primary Western artists to play on the divider after the unrest of 1949.

The enlightenment - the third time it has happenend - was managed by Ireland's envoy to China, Paul Kavanagh, and he was joined by various Chinese authorities including the representative leader of Yangqing region, Xie Wenzheng.

"We are the only country in the world to get this. The great Wall is a sacred icon of national heritage and it's not a small thing. It's a real gesture of friendship and we see it as such," said Mr Kavanagh.

"It's very important that Irish people don't become blasé about the greening. We are a small country with a big heart and we are known as such. Everyone knows St Patrick's Day and we should appreciate that," he said.
