Chinese Top Leaders Talk about Religious Work During Two Sessions

During the "two sessions" held in Beijing, Li Keqiang, premier of the State Council, and Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, mention religious work, according to Chinanews.

In the opening ceremony of the session of the 12th CPPCC National Committee conducted on March 3, 2017, Chairman Yu Zhengsheng calls to implement the CPC's policies concerning ethnic groups and religious work to promote ethnic unity and religious harmony.

Yu also calls to study and put into practice the guiding principles of the central committee's on ethnic affairs and the national conference on urban ethnic work, made suggestions on the version to the regulations on ethnic affairs in urban areas, and conducted studies on serving and management of the ethnic minority floating population throughout the organization process, promoting the green development of ethnic minority in ethnic areas , and developing industry with distinguished local features on the Qinghai and Tibetan plateu.

Based on the guiding principles of the national conference on religious affairs, the CPC made suggestions on the version to the regulation of religious affairs. The CPC held lectures on religious knowledge and supported the efforts of national community members from religious groups in interpreting their religious canons and teaching in a way that follows the core socialism value.

The CPC carried out researches and consultations around training the religious personnel, religious issue in the Border areas of Yunnan Province and developed a long system for management of Tibetan Buddhism monasteries.

The CPC members held three symposiums for national committee members from ethnic minority groups or religious groups to report on social conditions and public sentiment, during which CPC made suggestions for establishing integrated experimental zones for taking targeted measures against poverty in ethnic minority areas, regulating the development of grassroots religious community, religious organization and improve the management system for religious activity revenues.

At the fifth session of the 12th National People's Congress (NPC) started on March 5, Premier Li stated in the report on the government work that CPC members will fully implement the Party's fundamental policy on religion, manage religious affairs in accordance with law, promote harmonious relations between religions, and encourage religious leaders and believers to actively involve themselves in promoting economic and social development.
