China has blocked HBO's website right after John Oliver mocked president Xi Jinping, focusing the Chinese leader's resemblance to the cartoon character, Winnie the Pooh and country's poor human rights record.

In his "Last Week Tonight" segment, the host discussed few taboo topics in China including the ongoing house arrest of Liu Xia, surveillance in Xinjiang, Xi becoming the president for life and the outlandish extremes of the country's internet censorship.

The 20-minute long segment ended with a parody of Chinese propaganda featuring children singing about China and saying "Xi doesn't want you to see."

According to a report, it looked like Oliver and HBO knew that the segment will gain a response from China. It can be recalled that last week, John Oliver was censored from Weibo. This week, HBO.com became inaccessible to those in mainland China.
