On July 13, 2018, the 2018 international symposium on "religion and the rule of law" was held in Beijing, focusing on church-state relations, religious legislation, religious property, and religious legal person.

More than 50 scholars from domestic renowned universities, the Pew Research Center, Brigham Young University, and students attended it.

Pu Shi Institute of Social Sciences is an independent non-governmental research center that conducts academic research about China's religion conditions and religious legislation from the perspective of public administration. This includes work on constitutional theory and legal interpretation; the intersection of religion, economics, and charitable work; and religion and international affairs.

Since 2002, the religion and rule of the law series symposium is conducted by the institute every year.
