As part of the 40th anniversary of US-Chinese diplomatic relations, Chinese President Xi Jinping sent his congratulatory message on Tuesday to US President Donald Trump and said that throughout their diplomatic history, cooperation has always been the best choice for both their countries.

According to the report of Xinhua, Xi said that China-US Relations have experienced many challenges but have made historic progress for the past four decades. It has brought huge benefits for both countries, as well as assisted in retaining world peace, stability and prosperity.

"History has proved that cooperation is the best for both sides," Xi said ,adding that Sino-US relations are in an important stage.

"I attach great importance to the development of China-U.S. relations and am willing to work with President Trump to summarize the experience of the development of China-U.S. relations and implement the consensus we have reached in a joint effort to advance China-U.S. relations featuring coordination, cooperation and stability so as to better benefit the two peoples as well as the people of the rest of the world," Xi said.

Xinhua added that President Trump sent his own congratulatory message in return, saying it was his priority to promote cooperative and constructive U.S.-China relations.

Xi and Trump also spoke by telephone over the weekend. Trump said he had a "long and very good call" with Xi and said that the development trade deal between the two countries is progressing well.

China and the United States have made plans for face-to-face consultations over trade in January, China's Commerce Ministry said last week, after both countries agreed to postpone tariff applications in November.

Xinhua had also spoken out about the two countries in a special commentary, saying that it was natural for both countries to have disagreement due to their different backgrounds.

"At a time when the world is undergoing unprecedentedly profound changes and is fraught with risks and uncertainties, the global community expects even closer collaboration between the two largest economies," it said.
