On April 17, 2019, a fire broke out near Qipan Mountain in Shenyang, Liaoning Province and there were no casualties, according to multiple media reports.

Many Christians shared the news on China's popular social media WeChat, calling on Christians to pray for a rainfall that could extinguish the fire and protectc the Northeast China Theological Seminary that stands on Qipan Mountain.

One of the staff said that the seminary was safe by firefighters' efforts and a light rain.

Elder Shi Aijun, chairman of the Liaoning Three-Self Patriotic Movement, expressed his gratitude for prayers and urged the provincial pastors and believers to pay attention to official news and not circulate rumors.

A Liaoning pastor said that on the morning of April 18, the fire was basically controlled and did not spread to the seminary. The faculty, students, and staff of the provincial CCC&TSPM had been evacuated and would return to the school in days.
