Since October 3, China’s northern Shanxi Province experienced its worst flooding since records began, with the province’s average rainfall this month being 13 times more than that of the same period in a normal year. At least 15 people were killed, with more than 120,000 people relocated to safer areas, according to Cable News Network.

At the same time, the faith-based Amity Foundation opened channels for donation on several online platforms, according to the foundation.

As the water level of Qinhe River Basin skyrocketed recently due to continuous rainstorms, two bridges collapsed in Feiling Village, Fucheng Town, Anze County, Linfen City, Shanxi Province, leaving 339 people from 99 different families trapped. After learning of this situation, the foundation purchased flour, rice, and cooking oil, which were transported to these villagers in kayaks by the local rescue team.

In a disaster investigation on October 13, the Amity rescue team found that villagers in the temporary resettlement site of Fenggu Village, Chengzhao Town, Qi County, Jinzhong City, did not take enough daily necessities in an urgent fashion, and in particular many women lacked sanitary products. So, Amity volunteers gathered together toilet paper, sanitary pads, disinfection wipes, and other materials, delivering them to the resettlement site on the same day.

Recently, Songgu Township in Jiexiu City, Jinzhong City was hit by heavy rains which broke records, resulting in high water levels of several rivers in the township, with the phenomenon of a backwater. On October 13, with the help of local villagers, the foundation distributed oils and flour to 560 families in Nanqiaotou Village, Songgu Township, which was hit most severely.

From Oct 12 to 13, outdoor jackets, quilts, and disinfectants supplied by the foundation were sent to Xiaogeta Village, Daxiaobao Township, Xiaoyi City, Lüliang City.

During the same period, heating equipment, quilts, generator, and other emergency heating equipment items, as well as instant noodles, ham sausage, and mineral water, were brought to Beiqiaotou Village, Daxiaobao Township, Xiaoyi City, Lvliang City. In addition, flour, rice, and edible oil were also dispatched to the temporary resettlement site of the village.

On Oct 11, quilts and coats were sent to Zhaojia Village and Beixiangyang Village, Jicheng Town, Yushe County, Jinzhong City, being distributed from the evening of October 11 to 12.
