Hefei Christian Church was founded in 1896, so it has a long history over a century, and it also is the only Christian church in downtown Hefei. Its rebuilding started in 2006 and ended in 2009. Hefei Christian Church locates in Suzhou Road downtown, surrounded by prospering business, and it's a landmark of Hefei.

Hefei Christian Church once belonged to "Church of Christ in China". The old church was built at the south end of Sipailou Shizi Street in 1896 when it was the only Christian church in the urban area. In 1997, the original church was evaluated as dilapidated building which must be torn down and rebuild after several examinations by relative departments and specialists. In 1999, the Christian Church rebuilding program was approved and established by Hefei Planning Committee. In April 2006, the rebuilding in original location officially began after a foundation laying ceremony.

The new church took up 2211 square meters after the rebuilding completed. The floor area occupies 1036 square meters, and constructional area adds up to 7488 square meters including a 1036-square-meter basement. The whole project cost 30 million Yuan. The new church was designed as a rectangle, with 55.15-meter length, 17.2-meter width, and 35.2 height. It's a typical gothic architecture. The worship section is from 1st to 5th floor; the 6th floor is for offices and meeting rooms; the 7th floor contains activity room and training area; the basement is used for garage and storage room for equipment; part of the 7th floor is designed as a modern bell tower.

The church has enriched its faithful activities through many ways to improve believers' spiritual knowledge and theological attainment, which would showcase the beautiful side of Christianity. And church also plays a positive role in social events and public welfare.
