On the morning of July 13, co-workers in Shashi Church, Jingzhou City, Hubei Province loaded pandemic prevention materials into a vehicle.

The materials of 10 plasma air purification and disinfection machines were urgently needed by the Second People's Hospital of Jingzhou City and donated by the CCC&TSPM.

At the donation ceremony, official leaders and Pastor Peng of the CC&TSPM expressed their respect and support to the medical staff of the Second People’s Hospital of the City.

Yang Xuewu, the president of the hospital, and Huang Qiwen, the deputy president, attended the ceremony. They expressed their gratitude on behalf of the all medical staff of the hospital. President Yang talked about the original relationship between the church and hospital and the first nurse, “Lantern Angel” Nightingale. He explained how the church founded the hospital at a time when there were no hospitals. The church’s care for the wounded and rescuing of those who were dying formed the initial hospitals. Churches set up many hospitals and schools.

President Yang also described how the hospital admitted patients at the time the hospital was designated to receive patients during the pandemic. He said that during the most severe period of the coronavirus pandemic, in addition to the few medical personnel who were stranded in their hometowns, more than 320 elite soldiers were sent to support the frontline workers. More than 600 medical staff worked at the hospital without rest and treated about 15,000 non-new coronary pneumonia patients. A total of 83 confirmed and suspected cases were admitted to the hospital, none of them were mild to severe nor died, and none of the medical staff were infected.

At the ceremony, both of them expressed the hope that they would strengthen their connection in the future, work together to help the Jingzhou’s pandemic prevention work and contribute to the people’s health and safety.
