Last Wednesday, Beichen Church in Kunming, Yunnan Province, held the closing ceremony for the 20th session of its tea ceremony fellowship, with the attendance of over 30 congregants.
According to the hosting church, the tea ceremony fellowship has conducted a total of 20 courses since 2016, combining Scripture study with tea ceremony culture. This approach adopts a "sinicized" perspective to explore and convey faith, blending Christianity with traditional Chinese tea culture.
As a significant element of China's traditional culture, tea embodies a rich history and profound cultural heritage, offering both health benefits and emotional connections, the church explains. Within tea culture, tea leaves undergo a process of being baptized by water, tempered by fire, and patiently awaited, eventually releasing their fragrance and sweetness to the drinker. This process symbolizes the "sacrifice and dedication" of Jesus Christ. The fellowship encourages its members to embody the spirit of tea and live out the commandment of love.
During the gathering on January 8, participants shared their reflections on what they had learned in the tea ceremony fellowship, discussed their personal growth and service experiences, and testified to God’s grace.
