A group of Christian volunteers served free lunches to more than 70 elderly people in Qingdao, Shandong Province.

This year's Lantern Festival, which falls on February 12, four members from two churches on Cangyi Road and Yongqing Road, part of the Sunshine Watchmen Team, Licang District, came early to join the company of other volunteers who cooked meals for over 70 senior people who are in their eighties and nineties, according to Qingdao CC&TSPM.

There is a special place in the Yongqing Community Neighborhood Committee where free lunches are provided to vulnerable groups above the age of 70, including empty nesters, the lonely and widowed, the disabled, and the poor.

At 11 a.m., Sister Li Qian, one of the Christian volunteers, presided over the meal opening ceremony. The volunteers brought meals to the tables of those elderly residents, who enjoyed the special lunch together.
