Shanghai YMCA Launches Campaign to Care Children with Autism

On March 26, 2016, Shanghai YMCA and YWCA held the opening ceremony of the campaign-"Running Star", aiming to care children with autism in Shanghai upon the arrival of the coming World Autism Awareness Day. 

The campaign collected drawings from 53 children with autism and 18 volunteer children and 100 photography works. A bazaar and a stage play for public interests and other theme activities were held.

The campaign raised a fund of about 70,000 RMB on that day.

The activities including "walking into campus" and "walking into churches" were put on in the following nine days.

On April 2, Shanghai YMCA held a bazaar in Hudong Church to propaganda the concept of charity and knowledge about autism. An elder sister said to those who saw the photos and drawings, "Although they are children with autism, they are loved by God.

Founded in 1900s, YMCA followed the instruction of "You know the truth, the truth sets you free"  to take real actions to serve the groups in need in the society. Adhere to the Christian theology "God is love", YMCA do the  community service as a special medium and bridge between churches and society.
