Guangdong Christian Business Fellowship

To celebrate the 8th anniversary of its Christian Business Fellowship, Guangdong Union Church held a three-day retreat from Nov. 13 to 15.

The church invited two pastors from Yoido Full Gospel Church (Korean) and Pastor Enoch Lin of Hong Kong to be the guest speakers.Singer Chen Guofu from the Republic of Indonesia and the Edward Band lead the praise and worship service. One Korean pastor shared his testimony of overcoming the loss of his father in the first sermon.

The Business Fellowship of Guangdong Union Church, led by Chen Yilu (President of Guangdong Union Seminary) and Huang Zhaoping (Senior Pastor) was founded in Nov. 18, 2007,aiming to shepher merchants with God’s truth.

Huang Zhaoping says the number "8" is a special number for Chinese. "8" sounds like "Fa" in Chinese which means flourishing or developing. "God wants us to 'Fa,' for the righteous will flourish like a palm tree (Psalm 92:12). God want us to be in the work of the Gospel and build peaceful churches. Then all may go well with us as we  become businessmen of faith."

For the first sermon, Pastor Kim from the Yoido Full Gospel Church in Korean shared the teaching entitled, "My God." He then shared his own testimony of how he overcame the loss of his father through his faith in God.

He said his mind became blank when his father passed away. He felt empty and life was meaningless for him. He was filled with despair. Although he went to church, he didn't have faith and thought God was thousands of miles away.

In the winter retreat, several months after his father's death, he felt God's grace. The pastor in the retreat said, "Having loved his disciples, Jesus showed them the full extent of his love." It moved him. His heart was touched. Then he prayed, "God you love me. You show me the full extent of your love, you love me even when I lose faith."

He said he gave his thanks to God in his prayer. He said to God that he shall live for Him and he would love Him regardless of the good times or in the face of adversity. When connecting with God, he heard the mission God gave him: "Take care of my sheep.
