On September 12, 2017, Beijing Chongwenmen Church made about 800 bottles of grape juice in its courtyard. It took dozens of volunteers more than ten hours to finish. Last year, 541 bottles of juice were produced.

The church's official WeChat account shared the procedure, which consists of six processes: removing grapes from their stems, washing them, crushing them, filtering them through gauze, cooking them, and finally bottling them.

Every year the church makes grape juice for communion which can be stored for two years.

Similarly, the Mingde Church of Urumqi, Xinjiang, has used homemade grape juice for the Lord's Supper for years. It has a semi-automated production method to save time and labour.
