On Thursday, the Vatican refutes a magazine report saying that former Pope Benedict XVI is suffering from a debilitating 'paralysis' which may cause the death of the pope soon.

According to the report from the magazine Neue Post, they quoted the former pope's older brother, German priest Georg Ratzinger, who said that 'The greatest fear is that the paralysis could at some point spread to his heart. Then it could be over quickly. Only God knows if we will meet again.'

According to the Vatican, the news of the former pope suffering from a 'paralyzing degenerative disease' is false and that the former pope, who turns 91 in two months, said that he feels the weight of his years and it is very normal to feel it at that age.

The magazine report comes after the public letter from the former pope was released this month which spoke about the Pope saying he is on 'a pilgrimage towards home' and he is in his 'final period of my life.'

The letter even said that 'It is a great grace for me to be surrounded, in this rather tiring last piece of the road, by a love and a goodness that I could not have imagined.'

The former pope is currently living in a former convent close to the Vatican and still appears in public for major Vatican events.
