Pray for Children with 12 Bible Passages

In China, Children's Day is celebrated on 1 June when children under 14 have one day off from school. Parents may spend time with them to show care and love.

As Christians, we can look at the Bible to pray for our children who are heritages from the Lord.

Give thanks to God who never leaves your child.

Hebrews 13:5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."

Pray that your child will seek God all the time.

Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Pray that your child will be kind, compassionate and forgiving.

Ephesians 4:32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Thank God who has a plan and guide for your child's life.

Jeremiah 29:11-13 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Pray that your child will trust in the Lord.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Pray that your child will obey parents and authorities.

Hebrews 13:17 Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.

Pray that your child will be strong and courageous.

Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

Pray that your child can make wise friends.

Proverbs 13:20 Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.

Pray that your child can love other people and be a good friend.

Ephesians 5:2 And walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Thank God who commands His angel to guard your child.

Psalm 91:11-12 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;

     they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

Pray that your child can know love and live out love.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

Pray that your child can have good aspirations and virtue.

Philippians 4:8-9 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me-put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
