On July 27, 2019, the church in Shenzhen will hold its third hymn concert in the main hall of Shenzhen Church.
According to the WeChat account of Shenzhen Church, the concert is held every two years. Around 600 choir members from more than ten local churches will sing famous traditional anthems from the New Hymnal that includes 400 hymns.
The Shenzhen Christian Council & Three - Self Patriotic Movement (CC & TSPM) said that the organizations founded the sacred music department in 1987 and set up the sacred music ministry and the united choir in it. The purpose was to serve music ministries of local churches through music training and communication.
On August 9, 2014, a united 1000-strong choir performed three hymns, including "How Great Thou Art", to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the reopening of the church in Shenzhen. In July 2015, over 550 choir members from about a dozen local churches sang in the first anthem festival of the church in Shenzhen. In September 2016, a sacred music conference was conducted to mark the 66th anniversary of TSPM.
