On July 16th 2019, Wang Shuzhen, the founder of Zibo Protestant church, passed away at the age of 102 after medical treatment failed.
The following afternoon, the chief staff of Zibo Christian Council & Three-Self Patriotic Movement (CC&TSPM) and more than 300 pastoral staff held a memorial service for Wang in the local funeral parlor.
According to the records of Zibo CC&TSPM, Elder Wang Shuzhen was born in 1918 in Zibo. She believed in God at a very young age. She finished her formal education, both primary and junior school, in missionary schools. In 1938, she decided to begin her teaching career.
Two years later, Wang studied in North China Theological Seminary (Teng County) for a year and then went to the seminary of Cheeloo University to continue her education for three months. Because of Pearl Harbor incident that caused school closures, she then turned to Guangbei school to continue acquiring education for half a year.
At the end of 1951, Wang taught in Zibo primary school and also was appointed "Director of Discipline" for 27 years.
In 1982, Wang participated in the establishment of Zhangdian Protestant church, was appointed as an elder and served Zhangdian church for 8 years. In 2008, the church was restructured and the team was kept running. Wang worked for the church until 2018 and had three sons.
Pastor Zhang Xiuxia, vice-chairman and vice-president of Zibo CC&TSPM and vice-chairman of Zhangdian District TSPM, preached to the believers on the basis of Thes 4:13-18, and admonished everyone who answered "present" for the meeting.
