On March 31, during the Sunday worship service, the entire congregation of the Huigongqiao Christian Church in Wuxi City stood in silent tribute, remembering those who died in the "3-21" explosion in of Yancheng City in Xiangshui county.
"May such a tragedy never happen again. May this accident awaken those insensitive souls, warn people about safety, and help people learn a lesson."
At about 14:48 pm on March 21, 2019, a deadly explosion shook the Tianjiayi Chemical Co., Ltd., located in Chenjiagang Town, Xiangshui County, Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province.
According to the second press conference given at the rescue centre at the "3.21" accident scene, as of 7:00am, March 23, the explosion had caused 64 deaths with 21 still remaining in critical condition and 73 severely injured. After the accident, the fire fighters and rescue teams quickly launched operations and further rescue work is being carried out.
The explosion caused various degrees of damage to nearly 30 churches and their buildings in Xiangshui County, and churches with severe damage had stopped their gatherings. Some believers were injuried. Therefore church pastors not only visited these members, also encouraged other brothers and sisters to care for the wounded after the accident.
