From August 11 to 12, 2020, a training seminar on the compilation of the Chinese Christian Ethics Textbook was held in China's coastal Yantai city,  Shandong Province.

According to China Christian Council & Three-Self Patriotic Movement(CCC&TSPM), more than 20 people attended this meeting. The attendees included ethics teachers from seminaries across the country, teachers involved in the compilation of ethics textbooks, and young pastoral co-workers who have majored in Christian ethics and obtained a master's degree.

Rev Shan Weixiang, vice-president and secretary-general of CCC, pointed out that ethics was a very important discipline, which involves theoretical research but also focuses on real life. It tried to solve real problems, providing ethical and moral guidelines for people in different environments. Christian ethics systematically reflected on, analyzed and gave direction to the lives of Christians and ordinary people from the standpoint of Christianity. The compilation of Chinese Christian ethics textbooks should not only be based on the Bible and church tradition but also absorb the excellence of Chinese traditional culture, combined with advanced socialist culture, so as to meet the actual needs of the Chinese church.

After the opening ceremony, Professor Cao Gang, deputy president of the China Association for Ethical Studies, director of the Research Center for Ethics and Moral Construction and a doctoral supervisor at the Renmin University of China, gave a special lecture on ethics.

Rev Lin Manhong, deputy secretary-general of CCC and director of the Theological Education Department, chaired the seminar on the textbook compilation. The participants completed the outline of the textbook Chinese Christian Ethics and discussed the bibliography and progress of the textbook compilation.
