The Catholic and Protestant churches in Ma’anshan, Anhui Province issued a notice stating that all religious venues in the city would be closed from January 15.

The notice was jointly issued on January 13 by the CC&TSPM (Christian Council & Three-Self Patriotic Movement), the Catholic Patriotic Association, the Buddhist Association, and the Islamic Association of Ma'anshan.

The notice said, "All religious activity sites in the city will be temporarily closed, with collective religious activities suspended from January 15, following the guidelines given by the provincial and municipal government. Another announcement will give the time when gatherings will resume."

In the notice, the believers were required to abide by the requirements on COVID-19 prevention and control, such as staying at home instead of going to crowded places, wearing masks, and washing their hands frequently.
