Fujian Theological Seminary invited scholars to the Fuwan Forum to hold a series of academic events for the new semester over three days.

According to CCC&TSPM, three academic lectures were held from October 22 to 24.

Ruan Juexi who holds a Ph.D. from Cambridge University, UK, gave a lecture titled "Between Two Chinese Characters - Philosophy and Philosophy Itself". Dr. Ruan started from the questions in philosophy, such as the origin of life, the meaning of existence, the essence and phenomenon, the root of thoughts, etc. He pointed out that philosophy was to love wisdom, and thinking did not necessarily mean philosophy. He also shared how to learn philosophy by using his own learning experience.

Professor Zhan Shichuang, a doctoral supervisor of Sichuan University and the editor-in-chief of “Religious Studies”, an academic quarterly journal, gave a traditional lecture entitled "The Cultural Essence of Ruling in Body and Nation – A Guide to Reading Tao Te Ching". Professor Zhan expounded this profound Chinese classic through the appearance and inheritance, cultural value, and great management wisdom of Tao Te Ching. He summed up the cultural values in Tao Te Ching as "five words"-Tao, virtue, kindness, quietness, and peace. He pointed out that the book's core spirit was "great love", as Laozi regarded "Tao" as "the mother of the world", advocating loving everything, the country, the people, and his own body.

Zhuo Xinping, honorary president of the Chinese Religious Society and doctoral supervisor of the Institute of World Religions of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, shared his ideas under the title of "Exploration of Post-Modernism" from the understanding, transformation and modern deconstruction of post-modernism to philosophical statements and the rise of theology. He also combed the types, evolution, and main schools of postmodern theology, and expounded the postmodern theology.

Professor Huang Yongfeng, Ph.D., a doctoral supervisor in the Department of Philosophy at Xiamen University, along with other experts and scholars responded to the lecture contents. They said that this series of lectures was an academic feast of cultural exchange and collisions of ideas.

In addition, Professor Zhuo, Professor Zhan and other experts and scholars, as well as the relevant persons in charge of Xiamen University, held the opening report meeting of the 2021 Annual Religious Studies Project of National Social Sciences in the seminary.
