The faith-based Amity Foundation participated in the anti-COVID-19 work in the capital city of Shaanxi Province, Xi’an, in many ways.

After Rev. Wang Jun, chairman and president of Shaanxi CC&TSPM and a board member of the Amity Foundation, reported the COVID-19 situation in Xi'an and Shaanxi Province on December 31, 2021, the foundation sought help from the Association for Love and Poverty Relief from all walks of life in Shaanxi.

On January 7, the association used the donation of 100,000 yuan to purchase 3,480 sets of protective clothing and 6,500 medical protective masks, distributing them to four hospitals in Shaanxi, including a children's hospital, Shaanxi CC&TSPM reported.

In addition, after learning the situation from the pastor, the foundation donated another 50,000 yuan to maintain the normal life of teachers and students in Shaanxi Bible School, which is in lockdown due to a spike in coronavirus cases.

As of January 16, throughout this current wave of the pandemic which began in late December of last year, the city has detected a total of 2,049 local confirmed cases so far, more than half of which had been discharged from hospitals. The pandemic in this ancient city has entered the final stage, according to the Xinhua News Agency.
