A notice from the prosecutors was submitted to the 42nd division of the 4th squad on June 8 regarding the case of Choi Seung Hyun, also known as T.O.P of BIG BANG, after he has been found unconscious due to drug overdose.

The idol is currently recovering in the ICU from the incident and once he has been cleared by his doctors, T.O.P will be heading back home, instead of going back to his squadron while investigations about the incident continues.

There are several possibilities as to what can happen to T.O.P.'s military service once the investigations are complete.

If T.O.P is sentenced to over one year and six months of imprisonment, he will be forcibly expelled from the army and will not be able to serve.

If he is sentenced with a lesser sentence, he will undergo a further evaluation in order to determine if he is adequate to serve in the military again.

If T.O.P; however, is evaluated to be unfit, then he will have to enlist in the reserved forces as a social/public service worker.

While the investigations have begun, T.O.P's mother gave a statement saying that his son is now finally awake.

After completing her hospital visitation at around 1:45 P.M, T.O.P's mother stepped out of the hospital to meet with the press and announced the following announcement "My son's condition has improved a lot. I had eye contact with my son."

This has been T.O.P's third day since he was taken to Ewha Woman's University Mokdong Hospital after being discovered unconscious.

Medical professionals from the hospital further confirmed that T.O.P's respiratory issues were due to an overdose of sedatives that were prescribed to him. They also said that the rapper would need medical attention from the neurology and mental health departments to check if there had been any damage due to the drug overdose. After his condition improves, he will be receiving treatment from mental health professionals.

According to Professor of Neurology, Kim Yong Jae, he stated that T.O.P would open his eyes when he was given a strong enough stimulus, but he is unable to concentrate. Though there may be breathing issues or brain damage, the professor stated this wasn't the case with T.O.P.

Lee Deok Hee of the emergency department also stated, "We are unable to determine the specific amount of medication the patient took," adding that a recovery time would be difficult to approximate though patients in T.O.P's age usually recover in a week.

BIG BANG is considered one of the top acts in South Korea and has large fanbases worldwide, including China. The idol group is currently doing their promotional activity while T.O.P undertakes his mandatory military service.
