On Wednesday, the organizers of the 71st Cannes Film Festival announced that Chinese actor Zhang Zhen will be included in the festival's eight member jury led by Australian actress and producer Cate Blanchett.

Zhang made his breakthrough in the 1991 film 'Beautiful Summer Day' by Edward Yang and was included in the 2000 Ang Lee movie 'Tiger and Dragon'. He is also a part of the cast for previous Cannes' film line up for the grand prize such as 'Happy Together', 'Three Times' and 'The Assassin.'

Aside from Zhang and Blanchett, they will be joined by French director Robert Guediguian, Russian director Andrey Zvyagintsev, Canadian director Denis Villeneuve, American director Ava DuVernay, American actress Kristen Stewart, French actress Lea Seydoux, and Burundian composer Khadja Nin. They will be the ones to reveal the winners for the festival's cinematographic contest on May 19 during the closing ceremony and the screening of the Palme d'Or film.

Last week, the organizers announced that 18 films are vying for the Palme d'Or Award for this year's festival. China's Jia Zhangke's film 'Ash is Purest White' is the only Chinese film in the running for this year.

The 71st Cannes Film Festival is scheduled on May 8 to 19, 2018.
