The members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will be having its first Film Festival this coming June 13 to 17 in Qingdao, Shandong Province as a part of its efforts to exchange film culture between its members.

According to film maker Han Sanping, who will be leading the festival's jury panel, in a statement during the press conference for the festival on April 18, "Cinema is a sort of borderless language. It bridges people from different countries and races. I believe the festival will boost the exchange and collaborations between the SCO nations, and it helps filmmakers to learn from each other."

He also said that Hong Kong actor and kung-fu legend Jackie Chan will be the festival's promotional ambassador.

At least 60 movies from 12 countries will be screened for the festival and 30-themed activities will be included. The jury panel will also consist of 12 members from each country to select the winners for the festival.
