"The Godfather" actor James Caan defended Morgan Freeman who has been embroiled in a sexual harassment controversy.

Speaking directly to TMZ, Caan suggested that the allegations against Freeman are just part of a "witch-hunt."

"We're becoming a very strange place," Caan said in the TMZ video. "You know, I think that's why God made men and women, so they could be attracted to each other," he added.

Caan's statements implied that he was having trouble in understanding why men cannot express their attraction for women when it's natural God-given characteristic.

It can be recalled that CNN reported that 8 women accused Morgan of sexual harassment. In a statement, the actor who was known for "The Shawshank Redemption" and as the voice of God in "Bruce Almighty" denied that he assaulted women.

"I am devastated that 80 years of my life is at risk of being undermined, in the blink of an eye," Freeman said. "All victims of assault and harassment deserve to be heard. And we need to listen to them. But it is not right to equate horrific incidents of sexual assault with misplaced compliments or humor."

The women claimed that Morgan tried to lift their skirt to check their underwear and that he made comments about their appearances. One woman even claimed that the actor commented about how "ripe" she was while she was heavy with a child.

After this news broke out, TransLink and Visa announced that they are putting stop to the marketing campaigns with Freeman as their endorser. However, Freeman said that he never made women around him feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
