Actor Lu Yi teams up with actress Yuan Quan again after eight years for a new Chinese series entitled "Entering a New Era", which has run on Hunan Satellite TV since Nov 5.

The series which spans four decades, is a 40-episode TV show, that talks about the ups and downs of a former soldier-turned-entrepreneur in the wave of China's reform and opening-up launched in 1978.

At a press conference in Beijing, Lu says some back story about his character, "My character Fang Bangyan begins as a vendor to sell takeaway breakfast like 'baozi' (bread-like dumpling) and 'youtiao' (Chinese fried churros) on street after he leaves the army,"

However, the ambitious man soon finds a job in a textile factory and starts to self-learn English and German, which gains him an opportunity to be assigned abroad and accomplish bigger success, which is the fruit of his persistence and passion.

Yuan, who stars as Fang's wife, said the TV series reflects the changes of China over the past 40 years, such as the huge economic progress and the rise of internet industry.
