Another Chinese masterpiece was sold at a large pricetag last week as Chinese artist Wu Guangzhong's 1994 oil painting entitled "Twin Swallows" was sold for 112.7 million yuan during Poly International Auction's sale on Thursday in Beijing.

The painting was sold at the second highest price paid for Wu's oil works. Wu passed away in 2010 in Beijing, but he was well-known for his color systems and how he shows Chinese poetry in his works.

Wu made two versions of "Twin Swallows", which he first made in 1988 as a colored ink painting. This first painting became the basis for the oil version that was created in 1994, playing with Chinese and Western techniques to create a tranquil scenery that inspires poetic sentiments and show Wu's homesickness for Jiangnan. The ink version was also sold on the same sale for 54 million yuan.

Wu's most expensive piece is his masterpiece, an oil on canvas work entitled "Zhouzhuang." The work featured a long landscape view of the water town of the same name located in Jiangsu province. The piece was sold for $30 million in April 2016 at a Hong Kong auction.
