On Tuesday, Christian singer G.E.M said she will be in the running for five awards in this year’s Taiwan Golden Melody Awards.

Originally scheduled to be held in June, the Golden Melody Awards will be held on October 3 after a delay due to the coronavirus.

The Hong Kong celebrity posted on Sina Weibo, China’s Twitter, that it was not easy to produce the original album, Animal Zoo, which was released at the end of 2019. In the process, she often felt herself drifting alone on the ocean, but she tried her best to fight hard, thinking maybe God wanted her to learn how to swim in the ocean.

“People have always focused on my voice, but few may know that my songs are written and composed by myself, based on my real-life experiences. Before I left my former company last year, I faced a lawsuit you all knew about and many obstacles you didn’t know.

All of this has been a great shock to me. The storms and waves in our life have indeed inspired our perseverance and potential.”

In addition to being the singer-songwriter of Animal Zoo, I’m also the producer of my first album...I also hope my parents and fans would be proud of me. I never imagined that I’d be nominated for five Golden Melody Awards. I’m very happy!”

“I’m grateful for the recognition of the Awards committee and also for the people who always help and support me! I hope that my music will encourage everyone who faces trials and hardships like I have to not give up! Keep on going!”

Many fans left comments.

One comment reads, “We are so proud of you for five award nominations! Also looking forward to your future music pieces! Gemgemgem love, Let’s walk together! Create a new brilliance!”
