Sixth time's the charm as Leonardo DiCaprio finally won his first Oscar for the movie 'The Revenant' for Best Actor since his first nomination back in 1993. The movie showed DiCaprio as legendary frontiersman Hugh Glass and his survival story in 1823, showing viewers how the actor worked hard for his art as he crawled in dirt, ate raw bison liver and even stayed in sub-zero temperatures for hours.

When his name was called, visible relief was seen in his face even if many critics say DiCaprio will will the award.

In his speech, DiCaprio said "The Revenant was the product of an unbelievable cast and crew." He thanked his co-star Tom Hardy, director Alejandro Inarritu and cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki for making everything come together. He also thanked Fox and New Regency, as well as Arnon Milchan, Martin Scorsese and Rick York who have played a role in his life. DiCaprio also thanked his parents for all the support. He even said he brought his mother with him to the Oscars.

Leo ended his speech in an inspiring way as he talked about climate-change and the necessity to fight its impacts. In his speech, he said:

"Making The Revenant was about man's relationship to the natural world, a world that we collectively felt in 2015 as the hottest year in recorded history. Our production needed to move to the southern tip of this planet just to be able to find snow. Climate change is real. It is happening right now. It is the most urgent threat facing our entire species, and we need to work collectively together and stop procrastinating. We need to support leaders around the world who do not speak for the big polluters or the big corporations, but who speak for all of humanity, for the indigenous peoples of the world, for the billions and billions of underprivileged people who will be most affected by this, for our children's children, and for those people out there whose voices have been drowned out by the politics of greed. I thank you all for this amazing award tonight. Let us not take this planet for granted. I do not take tonight for granted."
