In the year 2013, China was France's second largest tourist market with a total of 1.7 million visitors and $681 million revenue after United States.
But soon, according to China's ambassador to France Zhai Jun, China will become the largest source of travelers for France outside Europe.
In connection, Zhai Jun, during a consultation with French, proposed of adding Chinese language to billboards and instructions in tourist attractions to improve services.
"Previously, the instructions at tourist attractions were full of French, English and Japanese. How could the Chinese language be absent?" Zhai said.
He added that the conditions in the major museums of Paris are still being improved as they provide Chinese instructions.
Zhai emphasized that the French has responded actively by offering more accessibility to Chinese tourists.
He noted that United States and Japan recorded for the biggest portion of travelers, while the number of Chinese tourists has grown rapidly in recent years.
However, terrorist attacks in France greatly affect industries.
"This has dealt heavy blows to the French economy and tourism," he said.
Though the number of Chinese tourists visiting France dropped after the attacks, it was a minor decrease compared with other countries, Zhai said.
The ambassador said that the France has been improving its services for Chinese travelers but the public security still remains an issue as there were reported cases of theft and robbery targeting Chinese travelers.
The number of such cases is discouraging and this directs "a demanding task for the consular protection staff of our embassy and consulates", Zhai said.
"The image of France will be undermined by the daily reports of robbery. The concerns are there," he said.
In addition, Zhai said that the French have boost public security by adding CCTV's to monitor downtown areas and strengthening police patrols.
But he believes that the improvement will not be achieved overnight.
