According to a post of one of Song Joong Ki's Official Facebook Fan Page, lists of best and worst records of "Descendants of the Sun" has been tackled and that it was considered as the first successful China and Korea released television drama that was pre-produced.
"The production sold the copyrights to "Descendants of the Sun" to China for 2,500,000 dollars per episode. The remake was a successful deal too and gave notice of a Chinese version of "Descendants of the Sun". Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo are going to be in the middle of the reigniting of Hallyu," as written on the post.
The "Descendants of the Sun" was pre-produced and there was a report that there was a doubt if the drama will be successful because of that main reason as it was a Korean sentiment to apply and hear from viewers' reactions to see how drama goes. However, the 16-episode drama did it.
Furthermore,the KBS 2TV's drama series "Descendants of the Sun" secured a combined 12.2 billion won ($10.6 million) worth of advertisement deals, including virtual advertising and PPL, according to sources in the broadcasting industry.
The drama was revealed to be simultaneously broadcast in China and Korea and it was very successful thanks to Iqiyi, online video platform based in Beijing, China. It has recorded of 2.6 billion views on Iqiyi, too.
Due to the overwhelming acceptance and positive reviews by audiences from all over 32 countries, Big Boss' Song Joong Ki said he was very thankful to all the supporters of drama.

It was the first one I filmed after my return from the military, and the pre-shooting allowed me to happily work in a new environment with great cast and crew," he said.

I was worried a lot about my capabilities in portraying these qualities, and it took great time and effort to create the drama. But it's already ending so in a way I am a bit sad. To those viewers who gave great love for 'Descendants of the Sun', as well as the staff and actors, once again, thank you so much," the 30-year-old hallyu star said.
The famous Korean drama series is starred by Song Joong Ki, Song Hye Kyo, Jin Goo, Kim Ji-won and which was written by famous writer Kim Eun Sook.
