Is money the roots of all evil? If not, why it is written in the scripture? 1 Timothy 6:10  "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."

Are there any areas in our life where money is the basic cause of all evil? Let's go back to 1 Timothy 6:10 "For the love of money is the root of all evil."

Paul is trying to explain that the love of money and financial gain make the Christians be distanced from morality and virtue. They are no longer interested in building a strong relationship with their neighbors. Instead, they seek for ways to use them to gain wealth and security.

Even Jesus told his disciple Truly, "I say to you, only with difficulty will a rich person enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God," Matthew 19:23-24.

Jesus is saying that wealth is one of the biggest hindrances in having faith in His Father. The reason is pretty obvious, wealth becomes the master in our lives and drives us to do all kind of things that drives us away from God. However, the good news is, what seems impossible for a man in entering the Kingdom of God is possible through Him.

Money is becoming the root of evil for Christians when they seek the worldly activities to earn more money than to seek for our Father in heaven. On the contrary, the scriptures taught us not to store up things in this world.

Matthew 6:19
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal."

Psalm 62:10
"Do not trust in oppression And do not vainly hope in robbery; If riches increase, do not set your heart upon them." Our God the Father in heaven promised to all his children we can ensure wealth and righteousness.

Proverbs 8:18
"Riches and honor are with me, enduring wealth and righteousness." Christians should maintain righteousness in their thoughts, deeds and in words every day, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week because God promises you will not be hungry.

Proverbs 10:3
"The Lord will not allow the righteous to hunger, but He will reject the craving of the wicked." Christians,  always remember money is the root of all evil if you put your hope and trust in it. Be wealthy with good works. Money is becoming the root of all evil if you are constantly trying to dream of ways to build wealth. Instead, one has to dream how to build wealth in terms of doing good deeds to others.

Evidently, money is the root of all evil to Christians, especially if they forget to share their blessings to others, which should be the character of every Christian. After all, Christ gave up all His riches in heaven to become poor so that we, through his life, death, and resurrection, might become eternally rich!

So, Christians should always remember that happiness has nothing to do with money.
