Taiwanese singer and songwriter Jolin Tsai will be performing a concert in Shanghai next month but her famous song, "Play" has been banned.
According to a report published on Wednesday, August 16, Shanghai Culture and Television Film and Television Administration Bureau banned the song in the country as the lyrics reportedly were deemed to have vulgar content after their inspection.
The news has left Tsai's fans angry as the hit song was supposed to be the opening song to the concert. This song was also one of the most famous songs and many audiences wanted to hear it live and performed by the singer. Some fans have called out the department and said that there were other songs with worse lyrics and started questioning why the song needs to be banned.
Meanwhile, the manager of the singer, Wang Yu Liang revealed that Tsai already performed the song on her previous concerts so it should not be an issue. Furthermore, the album received positive feedbacks in China where all copies were sold through a physical album.
