Have you ever wondered why Jesus always healed lame people by commanding them to ‘get up,' and when they did, they were instantly healed? "We walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7)" the Bible tells us. Have you ever wondered why it says ‘walk' instead of something else?

Faith is an action. Faith is getting up and walking. It does not stay in one place and hope for the best, what it does is it moves forward.

One of the means by which we access the power of God is through our faith, and it is a very important tool in our Christian arsenal. If the lame man did not get up when Jesus told him to, God's power would not have manifested. By getting up, the lame man believed by faith that he was already healed, and that's exactly what happened. By getting up, the lame man activated God's healing power and was set free from his affliction (See John 5:2-9).

The Apostle Peter, when he saw Jesus walking on water, wanted to do the same. "Lord, tell me to come to you on the water," he said. And Jesus replied, "Come." The Lord had already given the command and by doing so, it meant that the power of God was already at work, but if Peter did not step out of the boat that he was in, nothing out of the ordinary would have happened to him. Peter had to step out and walk. (See Matthew 14:25-29).

In the Old Testament, we find Moses and three million Hebrews stuck between the Red Sea in front of them and the Egyptian army behind them. The Lord said to Moses, "Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward. Lift up your staff, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, that the people of Israel may go through the sea on dry ground (Exodus 14:15-16)." The Lord commanded Moses to take action and move forward, and by doing so, they were able to cross over supernaturally by the power of God.

Before we do something by faith, we have to wait on God's command as He did with the lame man, Peter, and Moses. The moment we have the go signal from God means that we already have His back and His power is already there for us to grab. What do we do when this happens? We get up, walk, and take hold of our miracle. By doing so, we meet the Lord halfway. The Lord does His part, and we do our part. It takes action to make our faith complete.
