On the invitation of the Xi'an YMCA, Matara YMCA of Sri Lanka visited Xi'an in Northwest China from May 22 to 27, 2017 after one year of communication and preparation.
The signing ceremony of partnership between the Matara & Xi'an YMCAs was held on May 26. Both sides declared that they will carry out deeper communication and cooperation in areas like youth exchanges, youth enhancement, communication on traditional culture, and environmental care to serve communications and young people.
The delegation from Sri Lanka also visited the Xi'an YMCA's appointed voluntary service bases and programs that offer interest-oriented courses for left-behind children, holding talks with the workers of the YMCA and volunteers.
Founded in the 1900s, the YMCA followes the instruction of "Know the truth and, the truth shall set you free," taking real actions to serve groups in need in the society. Adhering to the Christian theology "God is love", the YMCA does community service as a special medium and bridge between churches and society.
