Shattered Dreams and Broken Hearts

Most of the time, we don't feel close to God because of our heartache.

The question is, what can we do to be near Him when we are at this state?

There are a lot of times when we feel troubled, sad and depressed, sometimes people feel so empty inside that they commit acts such as suicide

But as Christians, we actually have a wider perspective when we encounter problems, but just in case you are feeling sad and feel that you are far away from God, here are a few things that you must remember:

1. Nearness is likeness

"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart" Says Psalm 37:18

The Lord knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.

The more we are like God, the nearer we are to Him.  People often think "how close can I get to God?"  You can get close to Him as you want!  Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you.  Keep in mind that God knows the meaning of a broken heart (and bones) literally. He died for your sins remember?

2.  Remember that God gives grace to the humble

"God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."  James 4:6  said.

Never brag.

Sometimes, being too proud shows how empty of a person you are.

The more your money is, the sadder you are, the more you have fake friends rather than true and honest ones.  When your fellow Christian is sad, do not laugh about his or her situation, pray for them.

3. God will come to heal the broken hearted.

Luke 4:18 says "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,"

No matter how bruised you are, Jesus will always heal you and healing takes time, so don't rush.

Conclusion:

Everyone has experienced dashed hopes, shattered dreams and broken hearts.

Take comfort in knowing that the Lord heals a broken heart.

No matter how broken you are, the Lord understands you.

Draw near to Him with a humble spirit and surrender all the shattered pieces to God and He will heal you.
